First of all I would like to pixel Maniacs for making this game and for giving buyers of the flat version like myself the free VR upgrade.
I played the whole game sitting down, got the platinum too, this game also has a colour blind mode, wish more games would include this option.
ChromaGun Vr is currently $19.99/£19.99/€24.99, I feel a little guilty getting the free VR upgrade after I bought the game for £4.99 in a sale.
ChromaGun VR is often described as a being similar to portal, a fact the devs are well aware of, there are even a few references included, there may also be cake.
The basic premise is that your character is in need of some money and signs up for a ChromaTec research study (we've all been there).
You have to make your way through the testing facility solving puzzles with the titled ChromaGun, the gun can change the colour of some items that it is shot at, there are worker droids that will go towards walls that are the same colour as them, you use this mechanic to make the worker droids activate switches to open doors, simple right?
There are other mechanics that are slowly added to keep the game interesting, there is also a researchers voice over the speakers to provide help and support (I would buy a voice pack with Ellen McLain doing the GLaDOS voice).
A common trick that this game uses is having a puzzle that seems simple at first but then needs a completely different solution, there were several parts if the game where I swore to myself at the devs for being sneaky when I eventually solved a difficult puzzle, there were also times when I solved puzzles in a way that I don't think the devs intended.
My first playthrough came in at just under 5 hours, how long to beat list the flat game at
Main Story 4 Hours
Main + Extra 4½ Hours
Completionist 6½ Hours
In my playthrough I missed 3 trophies,
Employee of the year, platinum.
Not a lie, gold.
Droid love, gold.
These should be easy to pick up, I'll update with my complete time when done.
Heres my playthrough.
If you have a PSVR then give it a go, if not then it's available flat on PS4, PC, Xbox 1 and Switch.
No games are perfect, are a few things I would like worked on.
The audio at very end is way too quiet.
Add a crouch button, useless but nice.
A run button, would probably have to increase worker Droid speed to match.
Some things I liked.
Npc head tracking,
Male at desk seems left handed with mouse placement.
Best credits ever, I feel like I was invited to the wrap party.
I would love a ChromaGun, add a powerful torch and colour filters.
A ChromaTec t shirt would also be good.
I really like this game and highly recommend it, I can see myself replaying it after a while.
