The latest and possibly last Beta from @StrangeGamesStd was recently released, I gave it a quick go, heres my thoughts.
As is expected with this Beta being so close to release it is a lot more polished than the previous Beta's.
The first thing I noticed was there is now a minimap, handy for sticking close to squad mates, I like the map, however the map is linked with the rest of the hud, you either have the full hud or no hud, I would've liked an option to show some hud elements and not others.
The next change was there are now weapon boxes in the bottom right like in Battle royale games.
A welcome change is that the Battle royale mode is now selectable in the main menu and not just in rotation, handy for people that just want to play Battle royale or for people that don't want to play it.
In this Beta there weren't enough people in Battle royale for me to enjoy it, I did play with bots which was interesting.
The Sniper Rifle was updated to allow zooming without having to hold the gun up to your eye which is nice, however I still miss the iron sights on that rifle, how about adding iron sights to the side of the barrel, that way you can choose between the scope or irons? Or a button to attach and detach the scope, it can take time like the reload timeout to balance out.
In one of the previous Beta's there was what I'm assuming to be a glitch where if you turned your head too much it would go into a psuedo cinema mode, this wasn't good as I regularly turn my head to look around rather than using the analogue sticks, thankfully this is not present in this Beta.
As I've mentioned in previous articles, the kill streak notice used to take up way to much screen and block the flow, I've only got a few kill streaks when playing recently and can't remember being frustrated with them so they must have been tweaked, thank you for that.
The medic feature seems to be working, if you are injured you can press a button to request a medic, any nearby medics will get an alert that someone requires healing and a directional prompt, I really like this feature.
Now to a section a generally try to avoid talking about, price, I haven't heard anything official on the price but people on the Internet have been saying $9.99, again I must stress that this could just be guesses on their parts.
Arcade Edition launched at $6.99 so $9.99 might not be out of the question, at that price it's an instant buy for me, but I'm not going to get my hopes up as it will probably cost more.
I'm also not sure if the devs have final say on the price or if that's up to Sony.
In closing, this game has improved a lot over time and I really appreciate the devs for giving us players the chance to enjoy this game, this Beta has been fun and I look forward to trying it more, the only downside is that we need more players, that's on us and not the devs, the Beta is playable in VR and without VR.
If you have a PS4 then please give this Beta a try.
